Description
The North Bridge in Concord, Mass - famous for the "shot heard around the world," and the monument built in 1836 commemorating the battle in 1775.
These grounds are where local Minutemen experienced their first American Revolutionary War victory by forcing the British to retreat back to Boston on April 19, 1775.
"By the rude bridge that arched the flood,
Their flag to April's breeze unfurled,
Here once the embattled farmers stood
And fired the shot heard 'round the world".
Ralph Waldo Emerson
