Night photo of Becky's Diner located on Commercial St in Portland, Maine's historic waterfront district.

The story goes that Becky, a mother of six, opened up the diner in a spot where non fishery businesses were not allowed. She argued that the fishermen had to eat since they worked most unusual hours and nothing else was open.

A few years after opening in 1991, the diner enjoyed much success and Becky was able to add more hours to include dinner.
